A bullet carries two curvatures at once — the barrel turning away from you, the slanted dome falling off in another direction — so wherever the light is, some of it is at the platelets' peak angle and some is well off it. The pink and the gold in a single glance are the same flakes at different angles. Poured into wax they settle roughly flat as it sets, but nothing presses them down: a pan glows evenly, loose glitter flashes, and a frost shifts.
