The only object here that the light goes through, and the only one that can show what a dichroic coating is actually named for: the colour it returns and the colour it passes are complements. The stack sends one band back and lets the rest continue, so the two are what is left of each other — gold off the shoulder, blue through the bowl. A flat coated blank cannot show it, because a flat blank has nothing behind it and presents the eye one angle.
